Tho Bank of England discount rato is 2£ per cent., to winch it was reduced on Ist April. 'l'Jtireo montl^i' bills are fivolsixteenths higher, at 2 per cent. Short loans are one-quarter lower, at 2 per cent. COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Wheat. — The market is firm. Holders are very stoady on account of tho Washington Bureau's report of deficiency in the winter wheat orop of 40,000,000 bushels. Australian cargoes have .boen sold at from. 44s to 44s 9d. Steamer parcels, June offering, 439 9d. The American visible supply is 26,674,000 bushels. Flour. — Tho market is quiet and unchanged. Sugar. — German beet, 10s 7d ; first marks, 12s 7d per cwt, f.o.b. Hamburg. Wool. — The Bradford market is quiet and unchanged. Butter. — The market is quiet. Danish is quoted at Ills to 114s. Thero is a little enquiry for colonial. Choicest Australian is quoted nominally 96s to 98s, and New Zealand is at 104s. Cheese. — The market is rather easier. New Zealand. 64s to 655. (Received Juno 12, 8.50 a.m.) At the kauri Bales 618 cases were offered and 150 sold. Full rough three-quarter scraped, 135 to 140. • THE METAL MARKETS. Copper. — Three months, 6s 3d higher, at £61 5a per ton. Tin.— Spot, £1 17s 6d higher, at £135 2s 6d; three months, £2 10s higher, at £136 2s 6d per ton. Lead. — Unchanged, at £13 5s per ton. Tig-iron.— £2 8s lO^cl per ton. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having received the following cable message from their London house, dated 10th instant: — Tallow — Any change in price is in favour of buyers. For beef and for mixed at good colour, 43£ degrees titfe, off the coast, 29s per cwt is being offered. Buyers show little or no disposition to operate for forward delivery. Fro2en rtieat — A better demand exists for mutton at unchanged prices, but Canterbury lightweights have advanced owing to soarcity. There is also better demand for lamb, but at unchanged prices. Beef — Prime o.\ fores, 3d ; hinds, 4£d. Tho demand for beef has been cheeked "by increased prices asked, and a continuation of these values is not expected.
