At tho Supremo Court to-day a young man named Frank Tate was charged with having been improperly intimate with a girl under sixteen years of age. It was mentioned that since the caso had been heard in the Lower Court the unfortunate girl had committed suicide. Accused was found guilty, and remanded for sentence. A sad feature of the Wanganui drowning fatality, which was reported in Wednesday's Post, is that Thompson's sister, his only relative in New Zealand, was communicated with on Saturday, when her brother was taken to the hospital, and she was on her way to Wanganui from Christchurch at the time of his deaih. The deceased entered into business with Mr. Rait about three months ago, and the Herald states that prior to his arrival in Wanganui he had lived in Rangiora for about seven yeais. At the inquest, held at the Customhouse on Thursday airernoon, a verdict of suicide whilst temporarily insane was returned.
