WESLEY LiTERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY.

The weekly meeting of the Wesley Literary and Debating Society was held in the Institute, Taranaki-street, Mr. Fuller presiding. The subject for debate was-, "Can the present half-holi-day system be improved upon ?" Mr. F W. Jones opened in the affirmative, | and Mr. J. R. Burley in the negative. There was full discussion. A vote taken at the close of the meeting decided in favour of the negative. The society has joined the Debating Societies' Union. «
