MIRAMAR RACES. PONY AND GALLOWAY CLUB.

VICTORIA HANDICAP .WON BY MOATA. The May meeting of the Wellington Pony and Galloway Racing Club was concluded at 'Miramar on Saturday. The going was heavy. The principal event, the Victoria Handicap, was won by Moata, who acted as runner-up to Psyche the previous Saturday. The Otaki-owned i^uia, making his first appearance at Miramar, won a double, as also did Aurifera. The easiest win of the afternoon was that of Anglican, a double winner .the previous Saturday, in the concluding event. Earlier in the day he ran third to Aurifera. St. Helena lost her rider shortly after the start. The events were got off to time, and the afternoon's sport passed off without protest or objection oi any kind. Miis Ivy and Aurifera were promin ent for two furlongs, where the latter held a slight advantage. Aurifera. who was favourite, led by a length into the' straight, and won by a ' little over thnt distance, Anglican a, fair third. Time, Imin 18 3-ssec! Little Paul broke the line, but gave way to Huia after covering a furlong. The latter was not afterwards headed, winning comfortably by a length and a half. Time, lmin asec. The latter drew out at tho 6ack, and led at half-way, where he was joined by Moata. The latter led into the straight, and won easily by two lengths. Time, lmin 29 l-2sec. Mr. L. Smith's b m Lady Dauphin, 4yrs, 8.11 (Johnston) 3 . Also started — Wee Nannie 9.3, Trixie 8.11, Reititi 8.8, Silence 8.5. At -half-way Huia and Dorina were out in front. They came into the straight almost abreast. After a good race, .Huia won by half a length. Time, 56sep. Khandallah Handicap, of 20 soys ; five and a half furlongs. Mr. P. Miss' Ivy led for two furlongs, with Miretta , and Aurifera next. There was little -between the three entering the straight. Half-way down the running, Aurifera took charge, and won comfortably by a length. Huia Handicap, of 25 soys ; four furlongs and a half. Anglican and Heatherlea Lass were prominent from the rise of the barrier. The latter was in front entering the straight, and won easily by five lengths.
