CHRISTCHURCH, 11th May. The local wheat market is firm, though it has been very quiet daring the last few days. In the meantime they are not very desirous of making further purchases until more freight is offering. There is n fair quantity of whent being submitted for sale at 4s to 4s j i at country stations, but beyond a small quantity changing hands at the latter figure, "4s is. the general quotation. ISlo sales of any consequence have taken place since last report. There is no change in the oats market, very little business being done. Oabsheaf chaff is dull of sale. Potatoes have further hardened in price, as few farmers are selling, preferring to pit their crops. Messrs. Levin and Co. have been advised by their London agents that the frozen meat market is weaker.
