«~— — NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. [BX TELEGRAPH — PBESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTOHURGH, 11th May. A meeting of the- council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held on Monday night. The president (Mr. W. G. lAtack) reported that he had accepted the resignation of 'Mr. J. H. Aitken as from 21st April, and ' his action was confirmed. Tho ex-secretary of the council was granted an honorarium of ten. guineas. >Mr. Batchelor moved, and Mr. Mason seconded, "That a majority pf, the centr.es having , failed to reply to the circular letter of 20th April, this council resolves to ghaud over to the newlyappointed president of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic -Association (Dr. Newman) all' tho books and papers, aaid tho balance of the funds held by the association, together with a certified balancesheet, upon the receipt of a letter indemnifying theAnembers of this council against any liability in. connection with the association, and that Mr. A" tack be authorised to take the necessary steps to carry this oat." The motion was agreed to unanimously. ■Mr. H-oare spoke in eulogistic terms of the services rendered by 'Mr. Atack in the interests of amateur sport in Now Zealand. Although he (the speaker) differed from Mr. 'Atack on one or two points, he considered that .Mr. Atack had done a tremendous amount for amateur sport in .New Zealand. Other membeis of the council spoke to similar effect, and the following motion was unanimously agreed to : — "That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded Mr. 'Atack for his past services in the cwuse of amateur athletics." 'It was decided to authorise the president to confirm the minutes of the meeting, to appoint Mr. Nordon to sign cheques in the place of 'Mr. Aitken, and that copies of past balance-sheets be taken and placed iv. Mr. Atdck'& hands.
