"TUBE" CARS FOR WOMEN.

AMUSING RESULTS OF A NEW YORK EXPERIMENT. Carriages "For Women Only" are running on tho underground railway connecting New York and Jersey City, (wrote a New York correspondent on 2nd April). The metropolis is watching with mingled hilarity and scepticism the result of the experiment. You have all heard of the over-crowding which is a feature of transportation in this conglomeration of huge cities. Every day, especially during the "rush hours," the underground railways are invaded by a human maelstrom which sweeps men, women, and children into the carriages, where they remain packed like sardines until they roach their destination. The fact that many women have received serious injuries, while many more have contracted dangerous ailments, not to speak of the thousands of dresses and hats which are daily destroyed in the mad struggle to secure foothold on the underground trains, has induced the Public Service Commission to recommend the reservation of the rear carriages for ladies only. The new system will soon be introduced throughout the entire underground system in Greater New York and its environs. It was with great curiosity that I stationed myself on a crowded platform to watch its operation. My observations confirmed the statements of the New York World, to the effect that the new order will merely crowd still more painfully the ordinary carriages, while the rear carriages invariably remain three-quarters empty. Though dozens of negro porters maintained a strident chorus of "This way for the ladies' car !" only women with huge packages or babies, and studious girls carrying heavy tomes of classical literature could be induced to avail themselves of the special accommodation. When the guards locked the doors the women inside rose in alarm. "This is not England," they exclaimad. "You musn'fc lock the carriage doors in this country !" But the guard merely retorted, "This carriage is for ladies only, and mv duty is to lock out all males."

How many a lady there is to-day whose hair has turned prematurely grey through some great trouble, overbought brain, deep seated nervous affection, etc., and while she deeply laments this fact, she objects, and rightly so, to use a. dye. But (hat course, -which is naturally repulsive to you is altogether unnecessary, for by the u&e of the wonderful "Milos Hair Restorer." you can compJetely restore your hair its natural j>hade, in a natural way. "Slilos" is not a dye, neither is it sticky, greasy, or unpleasant to usp. ft is simply a food which nourishes the tiny hair roots and .scalp pores, .stimulating the growth of the hair and causing it to regain its natural colour after a lew applications. Ol a bottle to-day and by. There'? no vi.«k for it's- absolutely harmless, and if you're not .satisfied with the results your money is lefunded.
