W. U. WILLIS.
ORDERED TO APPEAR IN COURT. By TelejrropJi.— Press Association.— Copyright. SYDNEY, lsth May. An order was made by the court today, calling upon W. N. Willis (recently assaulted near Randwick) to appear within^ three days and give evidence in the case in which a man named Daley is charged with attempting to extort money from him. Willis, a land agent — who, it will be remembered, was associated with Mr. Crick, a former Minister of Lands, in the New South Wales land scandals — was found seriously injuied and unconscious near Randwick on the morning of Tuesday, 27th April. On recovering consciousness, he could not throw much light on the assault, bui tnought that after a few days' rest his mind would clear, and he would be able to furnish the police with information likely to lead to the perpetrators being brought to justice. Mr. Willis explained that on the Monday night he went to Clark's residence at Randwick, to meet a man named Toohey from Adelaide, on business in connection with the book he recently' published. On leaving the stable to return home he noticed the forms of two men lurking in the scrub. One was a tall man, the other short and thick-set. Walking on, he heard them behind him, and turned to face them, and as he did so heard one of the men, probably" the short one, say, "Look .out, he's got his sword-stick." Mr. Willis was familiar with the man's voice and though in his weak state he could not recall his identity, he was positive that he would be able to do so in a day or two. Wh.it followed alter hearing these words Mr. Willis could not definitely state. His hat was knocked off, and he received a blow which caused him to fall, and he knew no more until ho was found lying alone in the scinb.
Why wait for that hoarseness to ''wear off," when Zymole Trokeys will stop it so much quicker ? Disagreeable coughs are often avoided by the use of Zymole Trpkeyo. — Adyfc..
