Sir Robert Hart, >vho was for many years Inspector-General of Maritime Customs in the Chinese Empire, has been t invited to return to China. Sir Robert retired last year after fiftyfive years' unbroken service in China. He wears a V.C. won as a subaltern in the Afghan campaign.
