The senior first division Association matches played on Saturday lesulted as follows :—: — Diamonds 4 v. Ramblers 2. Wanderers 3 v. Rovers 0. V.M.C.A. 5 v. St. John's 1. Thistle 3 v. Petone 0. DIAMONDS v. RAMBLERS. A notable thing about this game was the absence of Diamonds' usual dash and vim. They won, however, by 4 goals to 2. Play .was even in the first spell, M'Callum and Barnett scoring for Diamond. The second spell was characterised by several determined rushes by Ramblers, and scores by Bradford and Coward resulted. G. Reddy and A. Lowe added to Diamonds' score. For the victors Roberts, Overend, Hutchinson, and the scorers showed good form, while Bradford, Anker, and Coward played well for Ramblers. ■ WANDERERS v. ROVERS. This was a somewhat desultory game, both teams showing evidences of want of training. J. Ash scored thrice for Wanderers, and no other score was registered. The heavy ground made accurate play very difficult, and this may partially account for the ineffectual defence put up by Rovers. Mr. Wood carried tho whistle. V.M.C.A. v. ST. JOHN'S. V.M.C.A. defeated St. John's by 5 goals to 1 at the Basin Reserve. 'Superior combination and individual initiative won the day. and St: John's were playing a defensive game most of the time. W. Gibson (2), Timperley (2), and T. Gibson scored for the victors, and Moore for the vanquished. For the V.M.C.A. team most effective work was done by Hollis (goal keeper), Timperley, T. Gibson, and W. Gibson, while Scholefield, Martin, and Cross exhibited best form for St. John's. Mr. J. P. Paton was referee. THISTLES v. PETONE. Thistles won with comparative ease against Petone by 3 goals to nil. Phillips scored early for the victors, and the Petone men were for the most part playing a defensive game after that. In the second spell he again sent in two shots, Thistles' task being easy against the want of combination shown by Petone. Play was interesting encfugh, but as an exhibition of "soccer," poor. SECOND DIVISION. Letter-carriers defeated Porirua B, at Porirua, by 4 goals to 2, after a fast game. ♦ "Bowles (2), Shorter, and Kitching scored for the winneis, and Kara (2) for the losers. Diamonds defeated Petone by 6 goals to nil. S. Collins (2), LM'Gee, Robinson, Lowe, and Fitzgerald scored for' the winners. Wanderers defeated V.M.C.A., at Miramar, by 3 goals to 2. Porirua A gave somewhat of a sur-lM-i=e on Saturday by defeating St. r John's by 3 goals to 1. The game was

closer than the scores indicate, and was exceedingly fast. Porirua played with great dash, and at half-time the score was 2—o.2 — 0. St. John's then forced the pace, and Smith, Stratton, and Trevithick played good games. They should have scored on several occasions, but succeeded only once. JUNIOR LEAGUE. FIRST DIVISION. Diamonds beat Brooklyn by 2 goals to nil. Black scored both goals for the wining team, whose best players were Walsh, Geary, 'Black, and Cornfoot.
