.i — ♦ — '•* THE PRICES CURRENT. 1A slight increase in the supply of eggs to the wholesale markets has eased prices a little in Wellington, and the wholesale quotation to-day is 2s 2d to .« 2s 3d per dozen for best fresh eggs, and .1 Is 5d to Is 6d for preserved. The potato 1 market is firm, at £5 10s to £6 per ton | for prime and £3 10s to £4 10s for good. 1 Prime onions are £6 10s to £7 per ton, % and inferior £5 to £6. Seasonable vege- | tables are in plentiful supply, thougli :» late growths of green peas and French | beans are bringing good prices. Choice cauliflowers were sold at 6s to 8s per 1 sack this week, and prime at 3s 6d to 1 ss; green peas and French beans at 6s I to 8s per half sack. M Local grapes have been sold at Is to II Is 4d per pound, for best samples ; i§ second varieties at 8d to 10d, and in'i ferior down to 2d. A large shipment of M South Australian grapes was sold yesfeer- § day at unprofitable prices, in conse'JLuence of the supply exceeding the M demand. The best quality apples were 1 competed for strongly, and up to 9s per 'M case was paid for them. The best dessert :s pears realised up to 11s per case..
