WELLINGTON GOLF CLUB.
a OPENING OF 1909 SEASON. On Saturday, the 15th inst., the president, Sir Joseph Ward, will officially open the Wellington Golf Club's 1909 season. Thero will be competitions for ladies and men in driving, approaching, and putting, and tiophies will be awarded to the winners. A special train will leave Wellington (Lambton) at 1.30 p.m., returning from Heretaimga at 5.25 p.m. The competitions are as lollow :—: — Ladies. — Driving : The better of two drives (sealed handicap) ; drive from No. 1 tee. Approaching : The better of two shots; approach to the 17th green from 60yds. Putting : The better of two rounds over the putting course (sealed handicap) ; competitors will putt inpaiit. Men. — Driving : The better of two diives (sealed handicap); drive from the 16th tee. Approaching : The better of two shots ; approach to the 18th green from the men's tee. Putting : The better of two rounds over the putting course (sealed handicap) ; competitors will putt 'in pairs. Score cards can be obtained from the stewaids. . Members taking part in the competitions aro asked to go out by the 1.10 tiain, so as to be ready to start the various events as soon as the guests arrive.
