The Auckland share market was 'less excited to-day, and though a large volume of business was put through in mining stocks, prices showed a slight downward tendency, which marked a reaction. Waihi Grand Junctions sold freely and were firm, the prices realised ranging from 42s to 435, to 42s 6d to 42s 9d, to 42s 6d, with late sellers at 42s 9d, and buyers at 42s 6d. Grand Junction options firmed to 18s sellers and 16s buyers. In Waihi Extendeds a decline was experienced, free transactions taking place (2750 were solJ) at from 6s 9d to 6s 2d, to 6s 3d, to 5s 9d, to 5s lOd, more being looked for at 5s 10d, with late sellers at 5s lid. Waihi Consolidateds were a little firmer, sales being recorded at from 2s 3d to 2s 2d to 2s 6d, with more in demand at 2s 6d, and sellers asking 2s 7d. There were sales in Pride of Waihi at 7d, and Waihi Beach at 6d and 7d. Waihis were done at £9 4s, at which price more were offered, with buyers at £9 3s 6d. Talismans were a shade firmer, selling at 49s at each call. The majority of Thames stocks were easier. TALISMAN RETURN. AUCKLAND, 7th May. During tv? month of April, the Talisman Consolidated Gold Mining Company, Karangahake, crushed and tjeated "396u tons of ore for a yield of bullion valued at £17,340 10s sd. The total cost» ior the past month were £1 16s 9d, made up as follows: — Mine development, 10s 7d ; mining, 13s Id ; miJ'.ing. lls Id ; general expenses, 2s. The return shows a decrease compared with that for March (£18,473 from 4140 tons), and an increase compared with the yield tor April, 1908 (£17,296 from 4086 tons).
