o THE NOMINATIONS. IN THE CITY. Nominations for the City Mayoralty and the City Council closed at noon today. There are five candidates in the field for the Mayoralty. They are : F. G. Bolton, F. M. B. Fisher, A. K. Newman, John R;gg, T. M. Wilford. The nomination of the last-named was sent in this forenoon, and his nominators were Messrs. C. P. ASPIRANTS FOR THE .COUNCILThe councillors required are fifteen, ft.nd there are thirty-three candidates. Included in these are ten retiring councillors who seek re-election. Russell, H. Sanson, and F. Wills. KARORI. For the Mayoralty of Karori, there are two candidates : C. I. Dasent (the present Mayor), and W. A. Kellow. Mr. Dasent's nomination paper bears the names of Messrs. E. E. Hammond, Chas. Cathie, J. F. W. Mills, and F. J. Lissington. Mr. Kellow is nominated by Messrs. F. Dix, J. Caughley, W. H. Nimmo, and F. J. Walmsley. For the Municipal Council, the following 1 are standing : — Messrs. W. G. Bradnock, R. G. H. Burn, Chas. Cathie, H. E. Drvden, W. T. Hildreth, W. J. Monaghan, J. G. Raine, J. F. Spiers, E. J. Standen, R. J. Tarr, F. J. Walmsley, R. H. Wedde, and G. Welling. LOWER HUTT. Mayoralty : E. C. Bunny, nominated by G. F. Pearce and E. G. D. Woodward ; J. T. Hawthorn, nominated by Alice Haule, J. Sullivan, S. J. Garlick, and T. P. Allen; and W. H. Russell, nominated by T. A. Peterkin, G. A. Chapman, J. Cudby, Wm. Hendry, and Geo. Bowers. In the council (only two of the old members are standing) the following aye candidates : G. E. Anson, H. Baldwin, J. L. Barlow, F. de J. Clere, E. J. Harrison, E. Hayes, M. J. Hodgins, H. E. Kempthorne, A. Macaskill, G. P. Maule, W. A. Mowbray, G. F. Pearce, and J. J. K. Powell. PETONE. Nominations for this borough do not close till to-morrow at noon. The following candidates have so far been nominated for the council : R. H: Jones, Dr. Harding, A. Colquhoun, and R. J. Southgate. ONSLOW. To-day a deputation representing residents in Khandallah, Ngaio, and Kaiwarra waited upon Mr. Harkness and asked him to allow himself to be nominated for another term as Mayor of the Onslow Borough. Mr. Harkness has acceded to the request. IN OTHER PLACES. Press Association telegrams convey the followine information :—: — Mr. Charles D. Grey has been elected Mayor -)f Auckland unopposed. Twentytwo nominations have been received fo' the City Council. Mr. D. G. M'Kibbin has been returned unopposed as Mayor of Wood■nlle. Fifteen gentlemen have be^n nominated for the nine seats on the council The retiring Mnyor, Mr. J. M'Dor*aid, and Councillor Walker have been nominated for the Dunedin city mayoralty. There are contests for all the I.aids except Caversham and South. Mr. R. Milligan has been elected Mayor of Oamaru for the fifth term, and' the fourth time unopposed. Mr. J. A. Nash, who has been Mayor for the past year, was the only candidate nominated for the mayoralty (telegraphs our Palmerston North special). His nomination form was endorsed by the whole of the borough councillors..
