U.A.O.D.— PONEKE LODGE.

The Poneke Lodge, No. 21, U.A.0.D., Petone, heJd its usual fortnightly meeting at the lodge room, Victoria-street, last evening, Bro. Donaldson presiding. Sick pay to the amount of £4 6s 8d .was passed for payment, and accounts totalling £24 18s Bd. The receipts for the evening were £6 11s 4d. One visitor from the Hearts of Oak Lodge, Sydney, favoured the lodge with his attendance, and- a hearty vote, of thanks was accorded him, to which he responded. The secretary reported an accident to Brother S. Wilson, which had terminated fatally, and feeling reference was made to the worth of the deceased brother as a Druid and a citizen. It was resolved that the lodge go into mourning for a fortnight. At the next general meeting of the Lower Huit Borough Council Councillor Russell intends to move : — "That a strict enquiry by a speual committee be held into the cincum&tances under which the lease of tho new offices — Council Chambers and library — now held by the council from Mi. J. T. Hawthorn, was placed before the counci 1 for signature, without having been first submitted to the council's solicitor lor perusal. At the annual meeting of the Petone Junior Club, held last evening, a presentation was made to the retiring treasurer, Mr. H. R-enai, a, member of the institution for many yeans. Mr. Renai^ who is soon going to Khandallah to reside, is about to be married.
