The bulk of the business clinched, however, was derived from the mining section. Sales— Talisman. £2 4s 6d, Waihi £9 Is 9d, Waitangi 3s 4d, and N.Z. Portland cement £1 14s 6d. N.Z. Insurance hardened to £3 17s 6d, buyer, and Gear Meats were enquired for at £2 10s 6d. Wellington Gas, fuWy paid, rose 2s 6cl to £17 5s buyer. Talisman appeal 1 to have steadied somewhat, whilst Waihi quotations were a shade firmer. The second compound engine of the X type went north this morning to do duty on the Taiimarunui-Taihape section. The locomotive was built at the Addrngton shops and fitted up at Petone. The-parts of the third engine of the same type are expected next week. A challenge has been issued to the Wellington Rifle Battalion to fire a i match, of fifteen men a sido, with the 1 Karon Kifla-Club, pa. 3rd April. J
