LADIES YACHT RACE.

A new and interesting feature of the Port Nicholson Yocht Club's programme — viz., a ladies' yacht race — attracted large numbers of sightseers on Saturday. The yachts that took part in the contest were : Nanoya (Miss Holmes), Patronus (Miss A. Duncan), Waitangi (Miss M. M'Lean), Tuna, (Mrs. Petherick), White Heather (Miss K. Hoggaid), Taipare (Miss A. Highet), Janet (Miss M. Lane), Mahuia (Miss E. Fejl), Warehou, Viking, and Siren. The course was from the Glasgow Wharf to and around Point Halswell buoy, thence to and around the buoy off Korokoro, back to Halswell, and' thence to the Glasgow Wharf. At Somes Island the Mahina had a good ..lead, and rounded the Korokoro buoy one minute ahead of the Janet. The 16-footer race was won by the Rambler (scr), which led from start to finish, Doreen (scr) was second, Remah (6min), third. The Ma-roro, Kitty, and Rival also started. The Kitty was disqualified for not crossing the line at the start.
