The residents of Worser Bay had an unexpected honour paid them yesterday, when the s.s. Warrimoo, on her trip to Sydney, found it necessary to 'diverge from the . usuak-track of colonialgoing boats, and approach the main beach. In honour of the occasion, and impelled w.jth a justifiable curiosity, a throng of about' two hundred crowded on the beach. Within earshot of •the shore the* steamer dropped a boat, in which an individual, with his surplus wardrobe wrapped in brown paper, had previously been "dumped." As the 'boat swung over comparatively shallow water the individual with the brown- • paper parcel, having previously prepared 5 himself for the ordeal by tucking up his trousers, in obedience to a command leapt overboard, and "began to carry .forward the standard," as it were. The all- wet person received a great reception from tho watchers on the shore. He was a stowaway, anxious for Sydney without any disbursement, but he had . been detected early. A splendid programme will be presented at the sacred concert to be given •to-morrow (Sunday) evening at the Opera i House, when, for the first time in Wellington, the Globe Picture Company will ■ show some fine pictorial films. The .♦series will include "The Wonders of "Northern Venicf," "Going to Switzerland," "Beautiful Smyrna." The management have engaged the wellknown basso, Mr. W. A. Robyns, who will sing "Pilgrims of the Night" (Idle) and "The Mighty -Deep" (Jude) ; also Master Fred. Byron, boy soprano, who will give "The Chorister"' (Sullivan). Tho ferry steamers will run special excursions to Day's Bny to-morrow morning and afternoon, at tho usual hours. The s.s. Cobar will leavo tho new wharf at Petone at 230 p.m., returning from .the Bay a* 5 p.m. The full timetable •appears in another column. The platform at the New Century Hail will be occupied to-morrow evening at 1 p.m., by Georgia Glady6 Cooloy, whowil) lecture- on ~i' Tha. G%<# Ajar^i
