MAORI POPULATION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — If you will add up all the Maori votes polled in the North Island at the elections held on 2nd instant, and then mako an estimate of minors and sick people, you will get at a more accurate idea of the Maori population than any census will afford you. Forty (thousand is the Government estimate. I do not believe there are 15,000. — I am, etc., W.T.B.
