Fat cattle sold at about last .Week's rates. Htora sheep and fat lambs .showed little change. Fat sheep showed some improvement in consequence of a short supply. Fat piffs were rather dull of sale, but stores wero in veiy good demand. Forward store cattle sold well, but dairy cows were dull of sale. _ Only a small entry of store sheep came. Several lots wero light and unfinished ; u( phango in prices A line of agad crossbred ewes with lambs was passed at 8s all counted, 230 crossbred wethers sold at 12i 6d. 151 foui-, six, and eight-tooth ewei at 14s 2d to 15s. Therb was a fair entry of fat lamba, mostly of good to prime quality, but several lots wero light and unfinished. .There was good competition among the butchers, and a fow were bought for export at prices ranging from 15s to 16s 6d, prime lambs generally sold at 14b to 17s 6d, a few heavier weights to 19s, and lighter sorts 11s 9d to 13s 6d. There waa a small yarding of fat ehaep, a good proportion being prime wethers and ewei. The export buyera wero not pperating, but a buyer from the West Coast added keeuness 10 tho competition, and prices for prime sheep wero rather firmer. Tho range of prices was : — Woolly wethers 22s 9d, prime shorn wethers 163 to 18s, lighter 14a to 15s 6d, prime shorn cwo3 143 to 163 2d, medium 11s 6d to 13s 6d, aged and light 8s 6d to 11s. The large yarding of store cattle included a big line from Otago in poor condition. There was a good demand for forward steers and well-grown young sorts, but poor-conditioned lots were hard to sell. Yearlings made 29s 6d ; to 2-year heifera 3 , 2£.year steers £3 17s 6d, 3-year steew ,£6, 3-year heifers £4, dry cows £3 7s. A line of 3 and 4-year-old cows from tho South made £3. a mixed lino of 15-month to 24-year £2 5s to £2 10s. Dairy cows were dull of sale at £4 to £7 10s. Tho ,entiy of fat cattle comprised 357 head, and foi prime steers and heifers there was a gopct demand at last week's rates, out for light and unfinished sorts there was a dull sale. Steer 3 made £6 17s 6d to £11 12s 6d, heifers £5 to £9 15s, and cows £4 17s to £8 bs, equal to 22s 6d to 25s for .prime, 19s to 22s for medium, and 17s to 18s 6d for cow and inferior at per 1001b.

Veal calves made 4s 6d to 52s 6d, extra large to £4. Thero was a small entry of pigs, mostly of medium quality. Stores mot with a good demand, but fats were dull of salo and easier in price. Large baconer3 made 49s to 58a, and lighter 44s to 48s, equal to 5d per lb, large porkers 38s to 435, and lighter 30s to 365, equal to s£d per lb, largo stores 24s to 35s, v medium 18s to 235, and weaners 10s to 20s — the latter price for extra good quality.
