NOTES FROM FEILDING. [Bt'Teligeaph. — Spbotai ix) The Post.] FEILDING, This Day. The Feilding Gas Company has secured the necessary capital for carrying out its forward policy, in the direction of bringing this town up to date in regard to tho supply of gas. Aa roon as the weather permits, the work is to be pushed on, and a sum of £1000 will be expended during the next twelve months. During his residence in the Argentine, Mr. Denis Gorton, who is at present on a visit to his parents, Colonel and Mrs. Gorton, at Bulls, met Mr. J. E. Stent, who at one time was a partner in the estate of Messrs. Owen and Lethbridge, at Ruatangata, near Wanganui. Mr. Fred Pirani has been unanimously elected chairman of the Wanganui Education Board and Girls' College Board of Governors. Messrs. G. H. Bennett, Alf Fraser, and F. M. Spurdle eulogised the chairman^ work in the past. Mr. Gilbert Carson was nominated by the board for re-election as a member of the Wellington Teachers' Training College Board of Advice. After a fine spell of three or four weeks' duration, a break in the weather occurred at the beginning of this_ week. Since Monday rain has .been falling intermittently day and night, and aa a consequence, the rivers and streams are running freely, and some of them are showing signs of flooding. The Oroua River has been little affected so far, but the Kiwitea stream is rising continuously. So far no slips are reported on the i country roads. i MANAWATU MATTERS. Ra-in, accompanied by wind, lightning, and thunder, prevailed here on Wednesday evening, while at places along the line the ground was white with hailstones. Preceding this we have had a spell of fine weather. Two native lads, Dan Rakihana and Hema Whata, were charged before I Messrs. Brown and Freeman, J.P.s, with having stolen twe^rugs from Te Horo, the property of Archie Smith. The former admitted taking the rugs, stating he had been requested by Whata to do so. The - annual meeting of the Parkvale 'Dairy "Company was held in the Council Chambers, Carfcerton, yesterday. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs. N. Johnston, A. E. Maunsell, and H. Rayner were elected directors, and Mr. R. J. Chapman anditor. Mr. -C Lorenzen was re-elected chairman. [ The newly-appointed manager, Mr. Bower, was introduced to "the milk suppliers, and -gave them some excellent advice as to keeping the milk free from j imparities. It was resolved to donate five guineas to the Waararapa Pastoral and Agricultural Society's 25-guinea >cup competition in the dair// section, -conditionally on the cows being milked >on the owners' farms. The usual votes of thanks .were accorded. We have had three days of intermittent rains, the weather being 'comparatively mild. The rivers are-bank high.
