For the Roberts' Challenge Trophy, 1 the- schoolboys of Natal are at present leading with a score of 497. England-, : scored 459. Friar, the New Zealand cadet, was. .introduced to Lord Roberts, who »pre--sented him with a match rifle in -com--'memoration,of his visit and good, shoot—* .ing in the Cheylesmore and Guinness competitions, in both of .which Friar was second. Copeland, an Australian cadet, was ninth in the Guinness competition. Colour-Sergeant William Friar,, of the, Onehunga Public School Cadets, and a Bon of Mr. Matthew Friar, of Auckland, was sent Home by the New Zealand Government to take part in the , competition for Lady Guinness's and. other trophies. The Guinness competition was open to cadets from all public schools of the Empire, and the list of competitors was a long and formidable one. Young Friar has had a brilliant shooting career. The competi--tion was decided at Bisley.
