THE WALLACE TESTIMONIAL.
A meeting of the Wallace Testimonial Committee was held last night, Mr. A. F. Wiren presiding. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs. Thomson and Brown, H. Foley, and E. W. Arnold, for their action in going to Auckland to take up collections at the football ground when the Auckland v. Wellington ropresentxtive game was played. A committee has been set up in Auckland, with Mr. Pagni as chairman, to canvass the city for further subscriptions. A donation of two guineas from Hancock and Co., brewers, Auckland, was received at last night's meeting of the Wellington executive. Mr. G. Nichol, of the Government life Insuranco Department, reported that he had £27 5s on his list, and Mr. Wiren, general treasurer, -stated that a sum of £101 10s 9d was al- ' ready in the bank, and that there were -Btill three hundred subscription lists to *be returned, besides the proceeds of a -concert to bo given in the Town Hall during November next. Messrs. Thomson, Ryan, Janson, Cody, and Johnson wore elected a committee to mako all arrangements for the concert.
