A MISUNDERSTANDING.
[Bt Telegbaph. — Press Association.] WANGANUI, This Day. It was telegraphed from ChrLstchurch on the 17th inst. that at a meeting of the Canterbury branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants strong feeling was shown at the action of the executive in refusing the Premier's offer to allow the society to buy in for £1500 the back time of strikers of 1890 for the purpose of superannuation. Seen by a Wanganui Herald reporter, Mr. W. A. Veitch, Colonial President of the Society, states that apparently there has been some misunderstanding and the Canterbury men acted -on wrong information. As a matter of fact the executive has not refused Sir Joseph Ward's offer, and negotiations are still in progress.
