Y.M.C.A. NATIONAL CONVENTION.
It is anticipated that among the New Zealand delegates to the National Convention of the V.M.C.A., to be held in Melbourne from 14th to 18th October, will be Messrs. H. N. Holmes, H. Hart, and T. Vincent. Mr. Gordon Armour, secretary of the Dunedin Asbociation, and Mr. J. M'Kinney, of Invercargill, will also attend. Several citizens prominent in the movement are. also expected to make the journey. The Melbourne Conference will be the second national conference to be held in Australasia, and the first since the inception of what the V.M.C.A. term tho "Modern Movement." The first convention took place at Ballarat two years ago^ but the Melbourne convention will be on a much larger scale, and will include the study of the social, educational, and physical needs of men and boys in the cities, reports of recent advances made by the association everywhere, and conferences on country work, educational work, work among boys, and work in foreign fields. Among the speakers at the conference will be the Rt. Rev. Dr. Mercer, Bishop of Tasmania ;' Principal Harper, M.A., D.D., Sydney, Mr. W. Gillandera, National Secretary ; Mr. John J. Vigo, General Secretary, Sydney ; Mr. H. N*. Holmes and Mr. n. Hart.
