The Imperial Court at Leipzig quashed Horr Hardens sentence and ordered a re-trial. Herr Harden was tried last year on a charge of libel for publishing articles in his paper accusing certain court officials (including Prince Eulenberg) of immoral practices. He was acquitted", but on a second trial convicted and sentenced to four months' imprisonment. This month the Judicial Committee visited the Castle of Liebenberg, and examined Prince Eulenberg relative to contradictions Detween his evidence in the Harden libel trial in Berlin, and the testimony of two Munich witnesses given during the hearing of a case in which the editor of the Neve Freie Yolks Zoitung was fined 100 marks for accusing Herr Harden of accepting a million marks from the Prince for discontinuing attacks on the latter's malpractices. The Prince expressed his desire to confront tho witnesses. He was unable to understand their allegations. After being confronted for a prolonged period with Miree witnesses Prince Eulenberg was a/rested. Although suffering intense physical pain, he was conveyed in a motor ambulance to Berlin.
