AN IMPORTANT STATEMENT. OAMARU, This Day.

The Mayor of Oamaru having answer* ed a series of questions sent f rom Timam in regard to the condition of the town "under no-license, the letter was laid before business and professional men, and 100 signed the statement that they consider the Mayoi's answers correct. The letter stated:— ' ■ (1.) That statements asserting that \ no-license had hindered progress and that tho towp was financially' bad because of it, aro contrary to fact. (2.)
