THE PRICE OF A SCALP.

-.<> . ■■ . 1 DISPUTED IN COURT. Yesterday in tho Magistrate's Court, £3 was claimed by Louis ?. Christeson, hairdresser, from Albert E. Mould, attendant in the 'Mental Hospital, Porirua, for a scalp supplied to the defendant. "A scalp," said counsel for the plaintiff, "is something like a wig — only it is rather less than a wig." The plaintiff stated that the defendant had commissioned him to prepare a wig to be ready in three months, when he was going on a holiday. The artificial substitute" was not ready in time, and the defendant accepted a scalp as a temporary covering until the main wig should bo completed. Mr. Mould had paid £3 deposit on the wig, and was told that if ho did not return the scalp it would cost him another £3. The defendant took the wig, but did not return the scalp. His reason for this was that the wig at first would not accommodate itself to his head, as it still contained folds and wrinkles. On being threatened w.th proceedings the | defendant sent ,back th© scalp which, however, the plaintiff considered to have been absolutely^ ruined ; Th«> scalp was produced in court. • vMr. Riddell, S.M., held tlkt the evidence was distinctly in favour of the plaintiff, for whom he gave judgment for £3, the full amount, and costs £1 12s. Mr. Neilson appeared for the plaintiff, Mr. D. Jackson for the defendant.
