After breakfast, Starina finished better than Golden Eagle at the end of six furlongs, done in .lmin 27 3-ssec. Tamainupo and Lochbuhie were together at the end of four, furlongs run in 51 4-ssec, Te Aroha traversing a furlong further in lmin Bsec. Waihuka covered four furlongs in 53 4-ssec, Veronica beating Marangi over the same distance in 51 3-ssec.
