The telegraphists in India/ who had heretofore a three hours' interval for sleep during the night-watch, were ordered eight hours' continuous duty — day or night. They objected, and asked for an increase of 25 per cent. pay. The Viceroy (Lord Minto) supports Mr. Newlaiids, the British Post Office oxpert, who was sent to India, in enforcing the- new regulations. The Post Office has been notified as follows : — "Madras -advises that the delay to Calcutta is now normal."
