SEAMAN'S MARVELLOUS ESCAPE. [by -tixecbapii. — toess association.] WANGANUI, This, Day. A seaman named Schiston had >a marvellous escape from death during the passaga of the baiquentino St. Kttda from Newcastle to Wanganui. .WJien 800 miles from Wanganui, about a week ago, Schiston fell from the upper topsail yard on to the deck— between 40 and 50 feet. It was at firs* thought he. had bacn killed outright, but examination revealed that, he was unconscious. • A piece of bone had been broken off his elbow, there were two bad gashes in his legs, his nose was broken, and the man -was badly bruised generally and shaken. First aid was rendered, and on arrival yesterday the unfortunate -man was taken to the hospital, where his injuries are being attended to.
