Up to the present the team has not; been chosen. (Received March 2, 9.27 a.m.) MELBOURNE .This Day. j The secretary of the Tennis Association has received a challenge fromAme-j rica for the Davis Cup. The secretary of the Victorian Tennis Association recently received a challenge, from the British Isles for tho Davisi Cup. This is tuken as ensuring the match being played in Victoria. Last year Australasia (N. F. Brookes* and A. F. Wilding) beat America (B. G. Wright and Karl Behr) three matches $0 two, and beat tho holders, Sngrfsnd (A. W. Gore and H. Roper Barrett) t»y, three matches to two. England is not keen on playing, the. preliminary tie with America in the , South Seas, and the official organ has plainly stated that as the Americans will bo sending a team to England for tho "Olympic' 1 medals, and as tho rules governing the international championship allow of teams to play the preliminary round where they like, "the executivo in England view with copsiderablc interest tho. prospeci, of contesting* the preliminary round in England"— < at Wimbledom, of couiise.
