LABOUR FOR THE RAND.
PROPOSED RECRUITING IN MADAGASCAR.

It is semi-officially anounced in Paris that the Governor of Madagascar is absolutely opposed to the engagement of Alalagasy natives for the Rand. A week ago Mr. Winston Churchill, Under-Secrctary for the Colonies, stated in the House of Commons that tho Transvaal Government had asked Britain to ascertain whether France would sanction the recruiting of Madagascar natives for employment in the Rana mines.
