Swifts, the,wellknown American meat-house, had' He« quired big interests in the Argentine, and that Morris' and Armours', were following suit j further, tliSt .there was alarm at gmithfield lest this should mean nothing short of a Yankee meat trust at this market. * During the meeting of the Cou-rt of Commou Council yesterday, a resolution from the war'dmoto of .Aldprsgato •was submitted, as follows : — "That this wardmote regret to learn that the trade of tho central meat market is gradually getting into the hands of the meat trust, to the detriment of the consumer, and calls upon the corporation, as the market authority, to safeguard the interests of consumers." M r - Cooper declared that (here would not be an onnce of British produce in the markets in a few years.
