« [BS TEtEGBAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) NEW PLYMOUTH, 25th February. At the band contest t&e B flat trombone solos resulted : — H Taylor (Ist Battalion, Auckland), 67, 1; S- Sly (Wanganui), 65, 2; T. Gray (Wanganui), 62, 3 There were ten competitors. E Flat Cornet Solo: S. Williams (Woolston), 66 points, 1; B. Simpson (Masterton), 61 points, 2j W. Nicholls (Stratford), 58 points, 3. The Theatre Royal was crowded tonight for the B flat cornet solo competition, which resulted as follows : — F. Fox (Hastings), 62 points, 1;H. Crystall (Wanganui) and A. Berryman (Nelson), 61 points, equal, 2. Also competed : \\ Ihomas (Mornington), 53; L. Jorgensen( Ist Battalion), 59; James M'Grath (Woolston), 60; p. Richards (Nelson), 58; J. Caulton (Hastings), 56; C. Pike (Palmerston North), 65; N. Lovell (Taranaki), 54; G. Saunders (Taranaki), 60; E.Rissell (Stratford), 55. The garden party was postponed to Friday.
