HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

Ihe fortnightly meeting of the Wellington Hospital Trustees was held to-day. Present : Hon. C. M. Luke, M.L.C. (chairman), Messrs. Bolton, London,, Nash, HaleSj Danks, and M'Ewan. The house committee, in its report, stated that the Petone Hospital Sunday Fund furnished a donation of £66 18s 3d, for which thanks were duly returned. The secretary reported that there were 100 males and 89 females in the general hospital. The total for the corresponding period of last year wad 204. A fortnights ago there were 186 patients in tho institution. There were 20 males and 26 females in the Victoria Hospital, and 15 males and 8 females in the Seddon Hospital. The grand total was shown to be 258. The number for the corresponding period of last year was 253. The question of appointing another laundry man was referred to the house committee. In the meantime the chairman was authorised to nuke temporary arrangements. It was stated that the house committee had met Superintendent Hugo, and had discussed the arrangements for the/ prevention of fire with him at the hospital. He was to furnish a report. The chairman stated that Superintendent Hugo favoured the laying of a 4-in. pipe right up to tho hospital building, in order to secure an ample supply of water A donation of £9 14s lOd was received from the Woolston Band. It was decided to send a letter expiessing thanks.

Fire destroyed a five-roomed house belonging to Mrs. Perger, at Newlands, near Johnsonville, on Sunday. Mr. Perger, an employee of tho Wellington Harbour Board, was away from home at the time, and Mrs, Perger was on a visit to her parents at Petone. There was an insurance on the house of £150 in the London, Liverpool, and Globe Office, and £130 on the furniture in the United Office. The cause of the outbreak is attributed to fires which have been raging in the district lately. Messrs.
