BT TELEQHAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.! HASTINGS, Thi.i Day* I'uHy throo hundred attended a public meeting last night to consider the possibilities of Waiinarania as a health resort and watering place. Tho following resolutions viere passed practically, unanimously : —That steps be taken to acquire sufficient land adjoining tho Wajmarama block for the purpose of a public watering placo and health resort for Hnstinga and Hawkes Bay. That a petition bo set up and sent round tho town and country for signatures, asking the Government to acquire the land adjucont to the foreshore at Waimararna. That the Prime Minister and his colleagues bo asked to personnlly inspect Waimarama with the view of acquiring it for the people. The meeting displayed a strong dosiro to request tho Government to acquire for closer European settlement all the land no f , required by the Maoris for their own usq,_ and one speaker moved in that direction but tho Mayor refused to allow disoussion on the ground that it was outside tho purposo for which tho meeting was called.
