THE CITY WATER SUPPLY. PUBLIC CONSUMPTION DECREASING.
"The people have been very much more careful with the water lately ; fthere is a very marked improvement in the last day or two," was the city engineer's report to-day. The drizzle of Saturday evening saved the situation for a little while, and it is probable that the three-foot drop mentioned in the City Council's "cutting off resolution will not" be reached until this evening. Consequent ly the closure which was expected to-day will not bs applied until to-morrow, at ths earliest, and if the extreme care apparent in the last day__ or two continues to be exercised the~"full supply may continue available for some days longer.
