PORT NICHOLSON YACHT CLUB.

Races for first .-met second-class j-nchto were sailed on Saturday afternoon'uuder tho auspices of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club. Halt-way through the race the craft experienced a change of wind ; a fresh nor'-easterly breeze set the boats sailing down the harbour, and a complete change of wind brought thsm home, a south-westerly then prevailing. { Of the three yachts in the iiist-class I event only the Waitangi and Syren completed, the Ngaira. giving up the chase when tho wind changed. The Waitangi (scr) passed the finishing-post first, 2hr Bmin ; the Syren (15min), 2hr 22min 15kcc. On time allowance the latter boat was returned tho winner. There were, sis starters in the secondclass event. The three snatch yachts (Janet, Wairiri, and Mahinn) wc-ro the lirst away, .iiid were closely followed by the Taiparo {15min). The Muritai (7miii) and Nancy Stair (12min) boih made pcor starts. After an interesting Taco the Mahina came home first, followed by the Wairoro, Taipjue. and Onr.et in that order. The finishing timoa and tha winners on handicap are as follows: — Taipavo, 2hr 27min 45seq, 1 ; Mahina, 2hv 22min 15sec, 2; Wairere, 2!rr 26min 15sec, 3 ; Janet, 2hr 28min-; Nancy Stair, 2hr 43inin 30sec ; Muritai, 2hr 4imin. The postponed race for 14ft boats was also got off on Saturday. This event was held over from the Anniversary Regatta. It resulted as follows: — Endeavour (20min), lhr 34m in SOsec, 1; Raumntai (34min), lhr 55min, 2; Rival (24min), lhr 46niin 45soc, 3 ; Maroro (6min), lhr 49min ; M.C. (scr), lhv 45min 35ecc ; Oiga i27min), 2hr lOniin.
