On Saturday night someone who had seen cruelty inflicted on a team of horses being clrhen between hero and Okato, told tho police what ho had seen. On Monday two constables watched for the wagon coming into town. When they saw it they ordeiorl the driver to slop. Tho police examined the fivo horpes. There was only ono sound horse in tho team. Four of the poor brutes were totally unlit to be used. Their shonldoi'd wore unsightly with terrible sores. Ono horse in particular was iv a frightful etate. Tito collars and some sacking weie besmeared with blood. Tho police arrested the driver, Stanley Wooldndgc, of Okato, and had tho horse:? placofl in stables.
