The conferenco of representatives of the Commonwealth and the various States which was appointed to report whether Dr. Danysz's rabbit microbe is similar to the microbe found on the Australian mainland, and whether it is advisable to continue experiments on tho mainland with tho Danysz microbe, reports that the two microbes are specifically identical. , The conference finds that under natural conditions the virus will not injuriously affect animals other than rabbits ; therefore, while there is no reason to apprehend injury to animal life in general, neither is it to be expected that any effective destruction of rabbits by virus will be noticeable. The commission recommends that the prohibition against the importation of the Danysz microbe be maintain»d.
