CITY WATER SUPPLY.
♦ Steadily the level of the water in the Wainui reservoir is sinking towards the three-feet point, at which supplies will be cut off from motors and other machinery. The people have wasted more than enough water to keep the motors going for a considerable time, but the penalty of extravagance is to first fall upon inanimate things. Unless rain arrives speedily, machinery will not be tho only victims of tho famine. It will be necessary to husband tho treasure at Wainui and prevent people from squandering it at any time of the day or night. Many citizens will have the water on only at stated times, unless reinforcements arrive from the heavens within the next fow days.
