At 9 a.m. the following forecast was issued fortlie subsequent 24 hours :- Wind.— Soutli-eisterly ; moderate to strong northward of .Napier, Taupo, and Kawhla, but wpfcterly thence southwaid to Hokitika and Lyttelton; strong weatetly to gale elsewhere. Barometer.— Rise slowly m the Xorth Island geneially but fall everywhere else. Sen. — Considerable on western southward of Capo Kgmont und on eastern ojnst between Caatlepoint and Kaikoura, moderate clsewheie. Tides. — Good on west coast southward of Cape Egmont and Cape Campbell ; moderate all other puits. > Warning signal for westerly gale is exhibited at Nuggw Point.. R. A. EDWIN.
