They wore John Lonnon, found guilty of forgery and uttaring, who admitted that he had served three separate sentences of from eighteen months to two years; Zane Isidore Percy, who some time ago had a meteoric career as Lord Northesk ; \ t and Charles Henry Cox, who was first sent to gaol ten years ago, at nineteen years of age, and had sinco had only a brief period of liberty. Cox was now found guilty, of breaking and ontering and theft, and was sentenced to three years' imprisonment, and was declared an habitual criminal. James William Russell Hunter, who assisted Cox — previously declared an habitual criminal— in breaking and entering two Parnell residences, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment on each charge, to be concurrent. Nicholas Albert Maddren, for arson and breaking and entoiing at AVhangarei, was sentenced to two and a half years'*. James Bloomfield, aged 82 years", for breaking and entering, v,as sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment. Alexander Henry JU'Tavish, charged with (.hooting- with intent at Herbert Snoter, second inat-c of the steamer Quito and attempted Filicide., pleaded tiiat ho was .so- drunk that he had no knowledge of what he was dohvv. The j,ny found him not guilty, and "he was discharged.
