Eight cutters wero engaged in the first naul of tho Bluit oyster season. A rough estimate shows that the quantity landed was between 15,000 and 20,000 dozen. One teasel, tae steamer Eita, brought in 4000 dozen oysters. An excursionist, who returned to the Bluff from Lake Manapouri. complained bitterly to the Southland Times ot tho inconvenience being caused to tourists just now by reason of tho break-down of the machinery on the Government steamer on Lake Manapouri. Tho machinery has been running badly for sometime, and the climax was reached on (Monday when pait of- the engine:, had to bo shipped to Invercargill.
