CIVIL COURT CASES.

Several defended civil cases were heard at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. The Empire* Boxmaking Company sued Mrs R. Flint for £4 11s for good's supplied. Defendant, ropresenterl by Mr. Herdrnan, contended that the wrong goods were supplied, and in consequence were not used nor ivarited. Plaintiff was non-suited. Costs amounting to £1 Is were aliened the defendant.. For cas-fittings alleged to have been supplied, the Wellington Gas Company sued Henry Brown for £1 2s 6d. Defendant stated that he was not in occupation of the premises when -the fittings were installed. A nonsuit against plaintiffs was decided upon. A claim for £9 8s 6d for wages alleged to be duo was entered against Sarah Clark, a boardinghouse-keeper, by Mary Ellen Kane, a 'cook, who represented that slip had bo?n enpaged as cook at £2 a week. Defendant contended that she stated she would pay no more than PA 5s a week. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £8 8s 6.-1, with costs 16s 6d. In deciding this amount his Worship took into consideration a counter-claim for £2 for board and residence. Mr. Fair appeared for defendant, and Mr. D M. Findlay for plaintiff. In a case where John Bevan sued John Henry Wood for £11 14s 9d for wages and commission, judgment was given for plaintiff for the full amount and costs £2 6t>. Sydney .Tames was sued by V. and W. Ferkinp, builders, for £21 19s 3d for rent of a shop and gymnasium. Plaintiffs, for whom Mr. Yon Haast appeared, werenonsuited on a technical point. Mr. Stout appeared for the defendant. J. J. Curtis and Co. sued Henry Luft for £2 15s, balance of money alleged to be due for the removal of defendant's furniture. A counter cl;iim for £2 15s for goods stated to have been lost in transport, was entered by defendant. Judgment was given for plaintiffs for the full amount, ana costa amounting to £1 15s. The counter claim was dismissed. Judgment was given for plaintiffs in the default of defendants in the following cases : Wellington Trades Agency, as assignees for ICempthorne Prorser Company's New Zealand Drug Company, Ltd. v. Benjamin Brodic, £5 12s 9d, costs £1 3p 6d ; H. Oscar Hewett and Co., Ltd. v. Henry Donkin £5 10s, costs £2 Is 6d ; Commercial Agency, Ltd., v. W. T Davies, Ltd.. £43 13s 6d. costs £2 13s; Boss and Glendinning, Ltd., v. Win. Henry Frankpitt £1 8s Ad, costs £2 9s ; William Edward Timmings v. Henry Hunter M'Coli, £1 Is 6d, costs 7s.
