AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
j V.31.C.A. ATHLETIC, CLUB. An evening sports meeting was held on the Basin Beserve last evening' by the'Y.ai.C.A. Amateur Athletic Club. A large number of spectators were present, and all the races were keenly competed for. The events resulted as follows : — 100 yds Handicap.— First heat: J. W. Neilson, syds, 1; L. C. Fama, 2£yds, 2. Time, 10 4-ssec. Second heat: F. Hodge, 6yds, 1; G. S. Pike, 7yds, 2. Time, 10 3-ssec. Third heat: W. H. Pollock, scr, 1 ; A. Cunninghame>, 3yds, 2. Final : W. H. Pollock, 1 ; F. Hodge, 2. Time, 10 2-ssec. Won by two feet. One Mile Bicycle Race. — A Walker, 10yds, 1; W. H. Edwards, 35yds, 2; F. Cramp, 25yds, 3. Time, £uiin 30 'l-ssec. 100 yds V.M.C.A Boys' Championship Race.— C. "Grimmett, 1; E. Loader, -2; E. Roberts, 3. Time, 11 l-ssec. 300 yds Handicap.— A Donovan, 12yds, 1 ; A. C Kitto, syds, 2. Time, 35sec. One Mile Walk Handicap. — J. Chapplo, 230 yds, 1 ; H. E Kerr, scr, 2 J. Chappie's time was 6min 57sec, and Kerr's 7min 8 2-ssec. 880 yds Handicap.— A. E" Burge, scr, 1; H. W. Thompson, 30yds, 2. Time, '2min 1 l-sscc.
