Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., this morning aehvered judgment in the case of M'Whannell v. Branigan and Shepherd concerning the sale of property. The point at issue turned largely on the nature of representations made by defendants as to certain work of improvement likely to be done to the property by the City Council. His Worship said the defendants merely stated their opinion or judgment on a matter, on which the plaintiff could reasonably be expected to havD opinion and exercise his judgment. Judgment was given for defendants, with costs amounting to £3 13s. Mr. Herdman appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. Findlay for defenant Brnnigan, and Mr. Young for defendant Shepherd. The Commissioner of Police has received a telegram stating that a man named Frederick Gsorge Brown has been arrested at Mokai, Rotorua district, at the instance of the New South Wales police, on a charge of having aided and abetted in a serious offenco in Sydney. In the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon Edward Winter wa'b charged with having indecently assaulted a little girl .it Oriental Bay 'on 17th January, 1908. Piisoner, who w,as defended by }'lr.
