As a result of th» assassination of King Carlos and th* Crown Prince, and the consequent unrest throughout the kingdom, martial law has been proclaim* ed here. Ninety-four prisoners have been exiled to Portuguese Africa. The paper El Mundo states that re- v volutionaries plans have been matured *• with absolute- secrecy, and directed by, a republican editor, with the intention of establishing a republic without bloodshed. Many officers and non-commissioned', officers were arrested at Badajoz. Further stores of arms and explosives | kav# been discovered ia Lisbon. The police killed many of those taking part in the attack on Senhor Franco* ■ residence. Several newspapers report that Senhor Franco has left Portugal as a precaution for his own safety. Renter's correspondent at Badajoz, % Spanish town five miles from the frontier and 174 miles from Lisbon, reports that advices received there from tht Portuguese capital state that heavy firing was heard on Saturday- evening.
