At 9 a.m. the following forecast waa issued for the subsequent 24 hours :— Wind.— Easterly ; strong to gale at all places noith of East Cape, Taupo, and Haglan, extending southward to Napier nnd Wnnganul after 16 hours, but northeily stronj to galo eleewhere after 20 hours. Bartmetor.— Fall everywhere. Sea. — Heavy on east coast north of East Cape, and extending southward after 20 houis, also consideiable on westia-u coast 6outhward of New Plymouth. Rain.— Rain is probable aoon northward of East Capo, Taupo, and Ilaglan, and is to be expected elsewhere after about 20 hours. Warning- signal for easterly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritin, and East Cape, aad for northerly gale will be shown aftei sunrise at Cape 3 Campbell, Foulwlnd, Farewell Spit, and Nugget Point.
